Economical production of the most demanding print jobs in package printing

W&H introduces a new flexo printing press for package printing: The NOVOFLEX II promises maximum productivity through high performance and fast job changes. With a speed of up to 800 m/min, the NOVOFLEX II belongs to the top performance segment. What makes it so special is that even the most difficult images and jobs can be printed in top quality at high speeds. Fast job changes and minimized maintenance and cleaning increase the efficiency of the system.

"The NOVOFLEX II prints even critical, potentially bounce-inducing jobs, such as those with non-staggered plates with hard edges, at high production speeds. And that without increasing the amount of material needed or using special sticky tapes," explains Markus Bauschulte, Technical Sales Director Business Unit Printing and Finishing at W&H. At “The Future of Flexo” Open House at W&H in March, the company presented two jobs with high line count graphics and particularly hard printing plate leading edges running live at 600 m/min on the NOVOFLEX II. W&H achieves this unique print quality through an optimized design of the NOVOFLEX II: The printing unit is particularly rigid to minimize bouncing. Generously dimensioned bearings of the anilox rollers and format cylinders and a small center distance minimize deflection and vibration influences.

W&H joins CEFLEX - promoting circular economy as a common goal

The European initiative CEFLEX aims to improve the contribution of flexible packaging to the circular economy. The aim is to find better system design solutions by 2025 through cooperation between the many players along the entire value chain. In May this year, German machine builder Windmöller & Hölscher joined CEFLEX.

CEFLEX is a collaboration project carried out by European companies that represent the entire flexible packaging value chain. The initiative looks at the entire life cycle of flexible packaging from production, consumption and collection to waste management and secondary raw materials. An important goal is to develop guidelines for flexible packaging that are recognized throughout Europe by 2020. W&H Academy awarded as great training company

The W&H Academy has been awarded as one of the best training companies by the German professional association Flexoprint. Together with two other companies, the W&H Academy is one of the best three training companies in the flexo and packaging printing industry. The award was justified, among other things, by the high number of apprentices and take-over quota as well as the interdisciplinary continuing education courses.

The Windmöller & Hölscher Academy regularly trains around 80 skilled young workers and dual students in Lengerich. The W&H Academy has now received an award from the DFTA for outstanding performance and quality in the training of its apprentices. DFTA is the German trade association for flexographic printing. The honoring of the best training companies took place in Stuttgart.

The W&H Academy was honored because ot its large number of apprentices, the high take-over rate and multidisciplinary training courses. The director of the W&H Academy, Olaf Heymann-Riedel, sees the award as confirmation of the work of the Academy: "It is important to us to offer young people a good start into professional life with high-quality training. We are delighted that this quality has been confirmed by others now too." From a classical industrial clerk to a bachelor in mechatronics - young professionals are being trained in a total of 11 areas at W&H in Lengerich.

The members of the DFTA Flexographic Printing Association include around 280 companies from the flexo and packaging printing industry in Germany. By honoring the best training companies, DFTA wants to recognize and promote very good training quality in companies.
