Halogen-free and low halogen flame retardants for PE and PP, permanent Antistatics and the premiere of COLOUR VISION No. 16 are the main Topics of Gabriel-Chemie at FAKUMA this year.
Gabriel-Chemie presents its range of low-halogen and halogenfree flame retardant masterbatches for equipping thin and thick wall polyolefin products. The new low-halogen and halogen-free systems are compatible with widely available UV stabilizers. The highly concentrated masterbatch is effective in very low dosages meaning that the original mechanical properties of base polymers such as good impact resistance, high elasticity and low brittleness are not affected. It is easy to process and enables flexible colouration. Upon request formulations as a combination of several functionalities such as UV-protection, antioxidants, processing aids and lubricants, anti-block and with any desired colour tone can be provided. Typical areas of application are in the field of films, tapes, pipes and fibres for outdoor and indoor use.
Gabriel-Chemie has launched a new range of standard colour masterbatches that combines high quality colouration with the affordability needed for everyday objects. The range consists of 18 vibrant colours from Lemon Yellow and Cherry Red through to Dolphin Blue and Monkey Brown.
All pigments are completely lead and diarylide-free and the masterbatch is food approved according to European Union standards. High opacity enables good colour coverage to be achieved, even with a low dosage and the colours can be used in both film and injection-moulding applications. The colours are easy to process and are manufactured in the EU according to ISO 9001 approved processes.

In the laboratory of the CSI Institute in Bollate, Italy, a fire test was performed in accordance with the Italian standard UNI 9177:1987, during which not only the fire behaviour, but also the dripping behaviour of the burning plastic article were measured.

In recent months a promising contact has been made with Paulo Sérgio (Brazilian World Cup winner 1994, German Bundesliga champion 2000 and 2001 and Champions League winner 2001).
