Invisible, quiet, easy to use and saves on ink: the new BOBST peristaltic pump has impressed David Clémenceau from the Bourquin Group.
"The less noticeable a technology, the better!" So says David Clémenceau, Technical Coordinator at the Bourquin Group in Couvet, Switzerland. With the new BOBST peristaltic pump, his wish has been granted: "We installed one eight months ago, and we've never needed to touch it. It runs - it's that simple!" And his satisfaction is no accident: BOBST selected each component for its new peristaltic pump in order to optimise its operation.
At the end of 2013, Leopold GmbH Verpackungen, headquartered in Ludwigsburg, installed another BOBST MASTERCUT 145 PER flat-bed die-cutter for large-format operations at its newest production site in Marbach.
The company now has a total of four BOBST high-performance flat-bed die-cutters for size 6 operations - each complete with Power Register - in its state-of-the-art facility, which the company moved into in 2007. The further increase in capacity had become necessary due to the need to manufacture even more high-quality packaging for the highly competitive food industry market while ensuring maximum performance and availability.
With its investment in the latest high-end folding & gluing technology from BOBST, the RHIEM Group is rigorously focusing on further growth. In view of the almost infinite possibilities opened up by these two innovative machines in terms of producing sophisticated packaging solutions for customers, the company is now also increasing its staff resources. In concrete terms, this means two specialists are currently being sought.

K 2013 was a resounding success for BOBST. In addition to its presentations in Düsseldorf, the company had invited existing and prospective customers from all over the world to concurrent Open House events at the BOBST Technology Centres in Bielefeld (Germany), Manchester (UK) and San Giorgio Monferrato (Italy). The focus at all these locations was entirely on innovative solutions from BOBST for printing, coating and converting flexible materials. These innovations give packaging manufacturers new capabilities for improving the productivity, quality and reliability of their production processes, while at the same time reducing both the costs and the environmental impact. All in all, several hundred companies from more than 50 countries visited BOBST, including a substantial number from emerging countries such as India and from the Middle East. A good 60% of the visitors were new customers. Contracts for numerous projects were finalised. In this respect, the key fields involved included the BOBST solutions for coating and metallizing materials for flexible packagings, as well as entry-level solutions for gravure printing.
While activities on the BOBST exhibition stand at K 2013 revolved around technology demonstrations, the BOBST Technology Centres focused on offering hands-on sessions addressing the subjects of flexo printing and laminating, vacuum metallizing, and gravure printing and laminating. Live demonstrations of the company's latest machines were given to this end. The newest offerings from the BOBST Services Business Unit likewise attracted lively interest – especially the innovative services offered, such as the 'Boost my BOBST' programme. On the one hand, this programme offers customers attractive options for improving the performance of their installed machines and maintaining it at the highest possible level in the long term. On the other hand, it also includes possibilities for using technical innovations to enhance the flexibility of installed machines and thus cover new customer demands.
"Virtually every top flight carton plants in the world will have BOBST folder-gluers in their machine park," says Jacques Reymond, Head of Sales and Marketing for BOBST’s folder-gluer product line. "And very many of them will have a machine from our EXPERTFOLD folder-gluer range.
"Since its launch five years ago this year, EXPERTFOLD has become the workhorse of the carton industry as far as folding and gluing is concerned, says Jacques Reymond. "That's largely because it can be configured to handle products as diverse as small pharma cartons, boxes made from plastics, general food cartons, high added-value packaging and large cartons made from litho-laminates."
Italian graphics and converting company Igb S.r.l has substantially increased plant capacity and product quality by being the first company in Italy to install the new '2013 version' BOBST EXPERTCUT 106 PER die-cutter.
The new version EXPERTCUT 106 PER began production in December and has given the company the ability to separate cartons, removing the need for breaking the blanks apart by hand. Dino Bressan, Founder of Igb S.r.l said, "We have used BOBST die-cutting equipment for over thirty years and have seen the technology constantly move forward, something that is essential to us if we are to deliver excellent quality at a fair price. This latest BOBST investment has given us additional capacity thanks to its high die-cutting performance, high uptime and reduced manual handling. At the same time it is delivering the excellent quality that our customers demand."
