BOBST is the world’s leading supplier of machinery and services to packaging manufacturers in the folding carton, corrugated board and flexible material industries. Founded in 1890 by Joseph Bobst in Lausanne, Switzerland, BOBST has a presence in more than 50 countries.
Leading carton board packaging manufacturer, Jaymar Packaging, has shored up production at its Cheshire site after investing in a fourth BOBST folder-gluer.

Since the latest machine, a BOBST VISIONFOLD 110 A2, was installed in September, Gary Marsh, Production Director at Jaymar Packaging, said customers had benefitted from improved reliability and faster turnaround times, while the business had been able to enjoy greater flexibility in production
In a rapidly changing world, the ability of companies to adapt and evolve has never been more important. Kroonpress is a great example of doing it very well.

Since 1990, the company has established itself as the leading offset print plant in Estonia, focusing on newspaper and magazine printing. But with demand for paper newspapers on the decline, the company knew it had to evolve, and in 2020 it established its own packaging division, which trades under the name of Box & Bag.
BOBST has unveiled a new, multi-purpose version of its EXPERTFOLD 110 folder-gluer offering greater versatility and unrivalled time-saving benefits to packaging converters.

The BOBST EXPERTFOLD 110 A3 incorporates new integrated dedicated modules to produce crash-lock and 4- and 6-corner boxes. With these modules, job changeovers, from one box type to the next, are simplified and made faster.
In response to the continuing increase in demand for added-value finishing from brand owners, BOBST has introduced the NOVAFOIL 106 hot foil stamper for high-quality embellishment in folding carton production. This new machine has been developed to offer efficient, versatile and cost-effective multi-color foiling. Its capacities also include embossing, debossing, hologram application and even die-cutting. It will allow customers to create more elaborate designs to produce high-value packaging.

“The innovative NOVAFOIL 106 empowers creativity and flexibility to give converters more embellishment capabilities that will attract brands looking to add standout shelf appeal to their products,” said Marco Lideo, BOBST Product Line Director Die-cutters, Hot Foil Stampers and Flexo Printers.
Flexible packaging and folding carton supplier to the food, FMCG and personal care sectors, Crownpack, has enhanced its capabilities with the addition of BOBST NOVA D 800 Laminator, a multi-technology laminator supplied by BOBST.

Founded in 2006 and based in Sango Otta, Nigeria, Crownpack has been investing heavily in state-of-the-art printing and laminating machines, including offset presses, folder-gluers and a coextrusion blown film plant. In its latest investment, the business has installed a BOBST NOVA D 800 Laminator.
Post COVID, economical global GDP is expected to rebound by +5.1% in 2021. This growth drives high demand for raw materials across various industries. In addition, bottlenecks in the global supply chain remain as high as during the peak of the pandemic.
In these circumstances, raw material for the packaging industry as well as some key materials required for the production and maintenance of equipment, including standard components across electronics, electrical, bearings and consumables, are in short supply generating longer lead times and prices increases. The price of hot rolled steel plate hit record prices across all exchange markets, increasing by more than 120% over the last 3 quarters.

A BOBST employee has been recognized for the development of a pioneering innovation that has positively impacted the company and its customers.
Matthieu Richard, leading engineer of optoelectronics systems development and optical expert at Bobst, in Mex, Switzerland, received the prestigious BOBST Inventor Award for his embossing detection technology, which is integrated into the BOBST ACCUCHECK inline inspection system.
BOBST wants to shape the future of the label industry and believes digitalization is the main driver. BOBST has expanded its demonstration capabilities with a dedicated demonstration center outside of Switzerland.
The new Demonstration Center in Barcelona will provide a unique opportunity for converters and brand owners to come and see the Mouvent™ Cluster Technology for themselves, opening a new chapter in label production. BOBST did not participate in the first chapter of the digitalization of label production but is committed for the second chapter through combining high-quality, high productivity and low cost of ownership.

Encompassing five sites across Europe, AMB is a major player in the rigid and flexible packaging sector. The company has recently invested in a BOBST EXPERT CI press to expand its water-based flexo printing capabilities in a move that reaffirms AMB’s strong commitment to environmentally friendly production methods.

AMB is a family-owned company, established over 50 years ago in north-east Italy, and it was the first packaging manufacturer to set up a fully water-based converting facility in Europe. Based on their extensive knowledge and experience of this technology, CEO Bruno Marin and Technical Director Alessandro Marin have now chosen to partner with BOBST and install a best-in-class EXPERT CI flexo press. While this is the first BOBST printing press for AMB, the company is already familiar with the high quality of BOBST’s technology, having invested a MASTER D 1000 LAMINATOR for water-based adhesive lamination in 2016.
Bobst Italia SpA in San Giorgio Monferrato, Italy, hosted a grand event on 2 October 2020 to mark the completion of an ambitious renovation project that was first started in 2016.
Carried out in three successive stages, the project has completely overhauled the company’s buildings and organization, making it one of BOBST’s most modern manufacturing hubs. The renovation and extension of the production facility includes a state-of-the-art Competence Center for machine demonstrations and R&D trials, and an adjoining fully-equipped laboratory.
